Terms of Use

Last updated October 16, 2026

These terms cover your use of the GroceryGret app and grocerygret.com. We wrote them in plain language. By using GroceryGret, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why.

Using GroceryGret

GroceryGret is a grocery list and price comparison app for families and households. You need to be 18 or older to set up GroceryGret, or have a parent or guardian set it up for you. You're responsible for your phone and for who you share your family code and invite links with.

Family lists and shared content

When you start or join a family list, everyone with your family code or invite link can see, add, change and check off items on that list, and sees the first names of the people on it. Kids can join a family list that a parent manages. Lists you share with another family by link can be seen and changed by everyone with that link. Only share codes and links with people you trust. You can remove people from your family list in the app.

What you add to GroceryGret stays yours. You give us permission to store it, sync it to the people you share it with, and show it in the app, only to run GroceryGret.

Receipt sharing

Sharing receipt prices is off until you turn it on. When it's on, the store, date, ZIP area, items and prices from receipts you scan are shared so families near you can see real prices. You give us permission to use those shared prices in the app and in combined, anonymous price data. We never sell personal information. We may license combined, anonymous price data. Only share receipts from your own purchases, and don't change prices before sharing them.

Points

You earn points for prices you share from your receipts and when people join your family list. Points have no cash value, can't be sold or transferred, and can't be exchanged for money. Rewards aren't guaranteed. We may change how points are earned or used, or end the points program, and we may remove points earned by breaking these terms, like sharing receipts that aren't yours.

GroceryGret Plus

Plus is an optional subscription with extra features, like fridge and recipe scans. Every Plus feature is free during the beta and at launch. When Plus is offered for sale, it's billed through your Apple account, renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in your iPhone's Settings under your name, then Subscriptions. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, and we'll tell you in the app before Plus starts charging. One Plus subscription covers your whole family: everyone on your GroceryGret family list gets Plus, and Apple Family Sharing will be on for the subscription, so people in your Apple family can use it too. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Apple's standard terms for apps (the Licensed Application End User License Agreement) also apply.

Acceptable use

Please don't misuse GroceryGret. That means don't upload fake or altered receipts, try to get points you didn't earn, copy or collect data from the app or our server, interfere with how it runs, use it to break the law, or share anything harmful or abusive in lists, family names or feedback. Family names other families can see on the leaderboard are filtered, and you can report one from the leaderboard or by emailing us. We may hide names, and suspend or remove access for anyone who breaks these rules.

Prices are a guide

Prices in GroceryGret come from receipts families share, sale prices stores send in their own emails, and shopper-reported public data. They can be out of date, wrong, or different at your store. Store prices, sales and coupons can change at any time, and stores decide what they charge. Always check the price at the store. GroceryGret isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any store it shows.

No warranty

We work hard to keep GroceryGret accurate and running, but it's provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available, error free, or that it will lower your grocery bill.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, GroceryGret isn't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on prices in the app. If we are found responsible for something, our total responsibility is limited to the amount you paid us for GroceryGret in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending your use

You can stop using GroceryGret any time, and "Delete all my data" in Settings erases what we have from your phone. We may change, pause or end GroceryGret or any feature. If we end the app, we'll try to give notice in the app first.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For big changes, we'll tell you in the app. Using GroceryGret after a change means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
